İstanbul Bilgi University was established for operating in high education sector by educating students and preparing them to real life fierce conditions as a social individual. İstanbul Bilgi University, to give higher educational standards has developed online education systems such as online.bilgi.edu.tr and bilgi.blackboard.com. University also has an e-mba program for graduate students.

2.0 Business Objective

İstanbul Bilgi University have strategic goals such as conveying pure information to students. Istanbul Bilgi University Business Informatics program coordinator, M. A., has come up with an idea that will help OM students with their studies.

According to idea the system that will be developed aims to provide distance education for OM students at anytime and anywhere over the Internet.

Beside this main goal, the system also brings advantages to its users such as whiteboard, chat, forums.

3.0 Current Situation and Problem/Opportunity Statement

There are several problems for OM students such as current systems’ complicated and unedifying structures. Although there are many resources about OM on the Internet and bookstores, reaching the correct info through these messy resources is an overwhelming process by itself.

Beside these constructional problems, students (users) have also individual problems like shyness of asking questions and taking times of assistants, etc.

Expectations of Mr. Albayrakoğlu from this project are designing such a system that will cope with these problems by carrying all these process to web platforms and constructing edifying system.

4.0 Critical Assumption and Constraints

The OM-LS project must provide easiness for OM students. The online system should approach pedagogically to users with using step by step learning; run on existing hardware and software and it should require minimal technical support; be easily accessible by clients (students, tutors, etc.) and provide ease of navigation.

5.0 Analysis of Option and Recommendation

  1. Doing nothing since the existing system works well.

  3. Design and implement a new system by using mostly existing hardware and software.
